Molly was born to Alan McKie and Layla Wei while they were both fairly young. Alan wasn’t particularly eager to front that bill, and booked it quickly out of that relationship (such as it was). Layla, unable to care for the child (and dealing with her own addictions and demons), left her baby on the front desk of the Trader’s Inn for Danny McKie to find, knowing that he was the more responsible of the two brothers and would do the right thing.Regardless of the fact that Danny had just begun his own life managing his father’s inn, he took on the mantle of Molly’s guardian and did his best to raise the girl on his own. While the child was young, the town had already labeled her her father’s child, and however she tried to prove differently, the mold quickly became something she would never break free of.For a while, Molly decided to be what they wanted. If they wouldn’t accept her, then she would rebel, and rebel hard. A flurry of substance abuse and a series of vandalisms, fights, break-ins painted her as a hoodlum and a criminal and threatened to ruin her. However, one failed break-in attempt led her group to attempt to flee using the building’s roof, and Molly lost her footing, falling the distance onto the iron fence. The group left her behind to take the entirety of the blame, and she was sent to the hospital. Recovery was rough, on both herself and her uncle, and the toll it took on them both forced Molly to decide to turn herself around, as best as she could. Eager to prove herself, she buckled down hard to graduate, and a few years later, took up a rundown shop. She named it Secondhanded, and filled it to the brim with treasures that needed a second chance…just like she did.

The Shopkeeper: (default, v; main)Growing up in a smaller town kept Molly grounded, and introduced her to many of the things and people she knows and loves. However, her curiosity is strong, and the need to go out and see the world brews inside her. (Alterations include potentially owning a bakery or a dog shelter)The Clockwork Heart: (heavily-selective verse, affiliated with @infamouscabal, v; the clockwork heart)What feels like decades before, Molly was nearly killed with a bullet intended for Cabal. Left with little recourse (and armed with new knowledge), her savior ensured she would survive…replacing her heart with clockwork mechanisms and necromancy magics. Not long after, she’s enlisted in a war not of her own making, and Molly earns her place in the secretive and prestigious Dee Society, hidden in plain sight to study the supernatural and the strange. To being the know-it-all.The antique show out west had seemed like a good idea, but when the world began to go to shit–when the dead began to walk–Molly needed desperately to get home. The scene she stumbled upon in the only home she knew assured that she would never be the same. Retreating from the world she once wanted so desperately to explore, Molly worked to create a stronghold out of the inn to keep everything and everyone out.The Banshee: (vigilante verse, v; the banshee)There comes a time for action. The change from a small town punk to a big city nothing isn’t a particularly hefty switch for Molly, but small town frustrations feed a big city rage. Rich men get richer by stepping on the little guy. People are intimidated, scared and hurt and afraid to live their lives. Molly McKie has never suffered a bully, and she isn’t about to start now. What does one do when the law isn’t enough? They take it into their own hands, of course. Rules were made to be broken. Given who her parents were, Molly McKie likely didn't have a chance to be anything but a criminal, a hoodlum. There's really only so many times you can hear something before you begin to believe it, and give in. Something inside her craves the chaos, the disorder, and she dives hard into it. Vandalism, breaking and entering, drinking, smoking, burglary, pick-pocketing...if she can figure out a way to do something bad, she's going to figure it out. Maybe she needs a tame influence, from someone who believes in her. Maybe she's not ready to hear it.The Visionary: (tw; substance abuse, tw; drinking, v; the visionary)The mention of witches always conjures broomsticks and cauldrons, and while that may not be entirely inaccurate, it's at the very least not for the reasons cartoons specify. Not that it matters to Molly, anyway; it's taken her quite a while to get in tune with what her ancestors had gifted her with. People always said that visions were a gift, but the startling cacophony only gave her anxiety. She chose to silence the ability with alcohol, and it worked, to a point. Only now that she's weening off of her dependence of it, the visions are back and they are louder. Molly is struggling to make sense of them and hone the ability, practically starting over the learning from scratch.The Pogue: (16-24, tw; substance abuse, tw; drinking, v; the pogue)P4L, babey. Bio

Danny is the youngest son in the McKie family, one of the oldest in town, and was desperate to keep the peace within it. Even from a young age, he's always disliked confrontation - tempers seemed to flair in his family just because the sun was shining. This led to a perpetual need to people-please, to fix and mediate where he can...even if only to counter his elder brother's need to stoke discord in a family that demanded the very best of them.Danny grew into a more mild-mannered and unassuming man, preferring to keep to his own business rather than seeking out trouble. He took over the inn from his father, and does his best keeping it running and alive. He took the same approach in taking in Molly to raise when Alan and her mother, Layla, parted ways and left her behind. While his parents were not pleased with his decision to raise the child (and because of this, he's lost contact with them), he's always done his best, and very often set aside his own aspirations in order to support the inn and his small family. To Danny, family comes first.

Main/Default (innkeeper verse, v; main)Danny runs his family's inn, The Trader's Inn in Mulligan, Massachusetts. He's raised his niece as though she were his own daughter, or as best as he could given the circumstances. The inn is struggling to stay afloat, leaving him unable to make the necessary repairs to update it. If he doesn't experience some kind of windfall shortly, it's likely the inn will go under. Alan is the eldest son in the McKie family, one of the oldest in Mulligan, and once had the potential to be something great. He was want for very little, yet seemed unable or unwilling to apply himself to the full potential. Things were due to him, if only people could see that. He acted out against parents that demanded perfection, and while he might have been able to use this to create change and break the cycle, he chose instead to continue to punch down.He gained work by stealing cars, and most anything else he could get his hands on, and spent the money just as quickly on booze and drugs. He met Layla when she was fresh out of high school, and just as quickly as the love affair started, it crashed and burned. It didn't help that his brother had befriended her, and was very clearly the one she felt safest with. It didn't matter that there was apparently a child...Alan cut and run the second he could. He doesn't often return to Mulligan, unless he needs to hide out or get Danny to loan him cash.

That was, until the cancer took her. The illness was swift and brutal, and before Ellie knew it, her mother was gone and she was brought to her next of kin. She decides to study nursing, with a goal to become a hospice nurse for to give those dying some dignity in their passing. Her masked alter ego not only allows her to make the money she needs to pay off her schooling, but gives her some freedom to express herself...to love herself, even if it's only for show.

His father's social standing meant that he wanted for nothing, and no matter how badly he did in school, he would always excel. Thankfully, he's a good student, a good athlete, and a personable guy. The problem lies in the fact that his parents are never satisfied. He's got to be the best, in everything. He must always look the best, be the best in class, the best athlete, more...more...more. And Jack does his best to satisfy their need. To satisfy everything they ask of him. But he's hardly the perfect son...not in their eyes, anyway. After all, he's discovering that he's gay.The first guy he falls for, the first one he kisses and touches and finds any sort of freedom with also becomes his undoing. He's outed the moment his father walks in on them, and rumors abound at school when he's quickly withdrawn and sent to a private school elsewhere. It's a humiliation that comes with continual verbal abuse, slurs. Eventually, however, Jack decides he's had enough. He chooses his own path--rather than to become a lawyer or go into politics, Jack takes up art. He goes to school to become a paramedic, and eventually changes his last name, disowning the family that couldn't accept him for who he truly is. He will decide his future from now on, and he will do his best to ensure others get that chance, too.
